A social‑enterprise initiative by the Kosala Livelihood and Social Foundation (a subsidiary of Hindalco Industries) in Chhattisgarh has significantly improved artisan livelihoods by reviving the traditional Kosa silk craft.

The initiative provides direct market access, fair compensation, training, and global exposure to women weavers in Champa and neighbouring regions. Twenty‑four women weavers were recently honoured in a “Tana‐Bana” ceremony. The effort blends heritage craft revival with sustainable livelihoods, showing how sustainability is also a social justice and craft preservation story, not just about green materials.
